Arsenal boss Joe Montemurro to leave club at end of season

Club legend and former manager Arsene Wenger pays tribute to Montemurro

Arsenal have announced that head coach Joe Montemurro will leave the club at the end of the 2020/21 season.

Montemurro, who joined Arsenal in 2017, has won three WSL titles, four FA Cups and three League Cups with the Gunners.

In a statement on the club's website, Montemurro said: "It is with a heavy heart that I have made the decision to leave Arsenal at the end of the season.

"I have had an incredible five years here and I want to thank everyone at the club for making my time here so special.

"I would like to particularly thank the players, who have been an absolute pleasure to work with.

"I am so proud of what we have achieved together and I wish them all the best for the future.

"I would also like to thank the fans, who have always been so supportive of me and the team.

"I will always cherish the memories of my time at Arsenal and I will always be a Gunner.

Club legend and former manager Arsene Wenger paid tribute to Montemurro, saying: "Joe is a fantastic coach and a great person.

"He has been an integral part of our success in recent years and I wish him all the best for the future.

"He leaves Arsenal with a legacy of success that will be remembered for many years to come.
