Tiger Woods Hospitalized After Car Crash, Breaks Record for Most PGA TOUR Wins

Tiger Woods, 45, was involved in a single-car accident in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning.

Woods was transported to a local hospital with multiple leg injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The accident occurred around 7 a.m. PST on Hawthorne Boulevard in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Woods was driving a Genesis GV80 SUV when he crossed the center median and struck a tree. The vehicle then rolled over several times.

Woods was extricated from the vehicle by firefighters and paramedics. He was conscious and breathing at the scene of the accident, but was in pain. He was transported to a local hospital, where he is currently undergoing surgery.

The extent of Woods' injuries is not yet known, but the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said they are "major." Woods has a history of back injuries, and has had multiple surgeries on his back in the past.

Woods is one of the most successful golfers in history. He has won 15 major championships, including the Masters Tournament four times. He is also the all-time leading winner on the PGA TOUR, with 82 victories.

Woods' accident has sent shockwaves through the golf world. Many of his fellow golfers have taken to social media to express their concern and well wishes.

"I'm sick to my stomach," said Rory McIlroy, the world's No. 1 golfer. "Tiger is a friend and a mentor to me, and I can't imagine what he's going through right now."

"My thoughts and prayers are with Tiger and his family," said Phil Mickelson, another of Woods' longtime rivals. "I hope he makes a full recovery and is back on the golf course soon."

The PGA TOUR has also released a statement, saying that it is "deeply concerned" about Woods' condition.

"Tiger is one of the greatest golfers of all time, and we send him our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time," the PGA TOUR said. "We wish him a full and speedy recovery."
